The Story School is an overnight, eduLARP summer camp that uses the power of stories to teach. Nestled in the woods of Nature’s Classroom in Charlton MA, The Story School transforms campers into heroes using an immersive, interactive, and inclusive fantasy world based on history, mythology, and literature.
During the day, campers are heroes solving STEAM puzzles, encountering immersive escape rooms, battling our trained monsters, and leveling their game characters using real-world knowledge of science, physics, chemistry, and first aid. In the evenings, our campers relax with board games, armor-crafting, storytelling, and other camp bonding activities.
The 2023 Season runs from July 2nd – August 18th in two week sessions. Join Camp FABLE for an all age story or Camp Grimoire for a teen focused adventure. Serving ages 8 - 18, the Story School offers special week for younger campers who are coming to overnight camp for the first time and an engaging Counselor-in-Training program (Monster Camp!) for older campers that runs the entire summer.
Families that have participated in The Story School know their camper will feel safe, learn, and return a more confident version of themselves. The Story School is proud to serve a population that includes neuro-diverse and LBGTQ+ campers. All heroes ages 8 – 17 are welcome to become heroes and spend their summer in a story.

Business Review
"For four weeks, I go to [The Story School] summer camp. Here, we don’t have to worry about the future, the past, or feeling safe. It’s the closest thing I have to a safe space. Here, people like me can take a break from the real world, and bolster ourselves against the atrocities that we have to deal with using hope. Because this place doesn’t just give me hope that there are good people in the world. It gives me hope that anyone can be a good person. That anyone can become themselves. And, better yet, when I'm here, I am with people like me.
We like medieval fantasy, science fiction, video games, books, and so many other things. This place also makes me realize that I don’t have to brave the world alone. That I can have help when I face the whole universe, and that we, as one, can change the world for the better. That we won’t have to fight each other over petty things like land, or resources needed to survive in this capitalist hellscape. And we can simply continue learning, having fun, and growing. That we won’t be fighting over minor differences. That everyone who needs help will be not only accepted, but assisted. That love will be love. And that everyone will finally be able to be exactly who they are, and understanding will be abundant, and present between every person. And the hope that this can happen, in the future, maybe after me, even, makes everything that has and will happen worth it."

If your child is into LARP, they will love Story School classes. It's clear that kids feel like they are in an accepting place with similarly minded peers. Also, a very happy first time overnight camper this year, loved being able to find a camp for a child that wouldn't enjoy the more traditional experience. Story School is very welcoming of neurodiversity, and the kids feel like they belong.
