Summertime means more time to spend outside, so my kids and I have been checking out a lot of new parks to add to our rotation. LeBlanc Park in Lowell has quickly become a new favorite for us. There is a variety of play equipment here for all ages, plus a baseball field, a Little League field, a soccer field, and a basketball court.
The playground isn’t fenced in, but it’s bordered by large rocks and grass, and it’s far enough back from the road that it feels peaceful and quiet. Even though it’s located in Lowell, it isn’t a typical busy city park; it feels more remote. We were the only ones there on the day we went.
Fun info for any history lovers: Some of these large stones at LeBlanc Park have an intriguing history. It’s called the Druid Stone Circle, and while they may look like regular rocks, their historic roots are deep and many mysteries surround them. The mulched playground is very clean, and there are both picnic tables and benches to sit at. The main structure has a slide, a tunnel, and monkey bars. There are interactive panels, like an ABC step climber, musical chimes, and a talk tube. A communication board teaches how to say words in various languages.
There are both baby swings and regular swings, plus ride-on spring dinosaurs. My Spiderman-obsessed son loved practicing his Spidey moves on the large arched web climber. There’s a see-saw and spinning stools that are great for older kiddos, too.
We had a fun afternoon here. It was a nice, quiet change from the usual weekend chaos, and finding out about the mysterious history of the rocks made it an interesting visit!
