Monsignor Keenan Park in Lowell is a small but fun neighborhood park with a variety of play structures to keep kids busy. The park is fully fenced in, but the gates are usually kept open for easy access. There is a small parking lot and a few on-street parking spots. The play area itself is mulched and has two main play structures.
One structure has two double slides, a chain ladder, and a little drive-through window area underneath.
The other structure has a double slide and a spiral slide, plus a few different levels of monkey bars. There is also an arched climber and overhead bar spinners.
The park has two baby swings, though it’s worth noting that one was broken during our recent visit. A communication sign is also displayed that shows words in various languages.
Aside from the play area, there are basketball courts and plenty of grassy space to play or picnic. My son used this area to practice throwing his football for a while, and then we rode scooters on the basketball courts. It was nice that we had the whole place to ourselves; the park usually isn’t too busy.
The park has both benches and a picnic table to sit at, and there is a community garden that is maintained on-site.
We did notice a little bit of litter during our visit, but overall, the park was mostly clean and the equipment was in good shape. We always enjoy our visits here and recommend this little neighborhood spot as an addition to your playground rotation!
