My kids and I spent this past Sunday afternoon checking out Pawtucket Memorial Park for the first time, and we were surprised to find two separate playgrounds here.
The main playground sits on rubber flooring and is great for kids that like climbing and sliding. There’s a tall spiral slide and a shorter wavy one, plus a chain ladder climber. My kids spent most of their time swinging from the monkey bars and hanging rings. There is a zip line too, but it’s a bit sticky and doesn't glide much. My kids just used it as hanging handles to test their grip strength anyway (and got me in on it) which was a fun challenge. A multilingual communication board is on display too.
On the other side of the pavement is a playground that’s perfect for younger kiddos. There are crawl tunnels, bubble windows, and talk tubes, plus a double racing slide and a regular slide.
The real winner for my son was the funnel ball hoop. We got lucky and found a ball left behind, so the hoop kept him busy for a while.
The playgrounds are mostly tucked behind a fence, but the area opens up into a large paved space where kids can run around, ride bikes, or play four square.
While there aren’t any bathrooms here, there are plenty of benches and picnic tables where families can relax.
It’s also important to note that because it’s located at a school, it’s only open to the public outside of school hours (after 3 PM on weekdays, weekends, and summer).
Between the two separate playgrounds, funnel ball, and riding bikes, there was a lot to do. It’s a great spot to burn off some energy!
