My kids and I recently stopped at Koumantzelis Park in Lowell for the first time. Despite driving past it often, we had never actually noticed it before. Located behind the Butler School, it’s a little hidden gem. It isn't fenced in, but it’s set back enough from the main road so it feels more peaceful than busy.
Though the playground is a bit small with five structures, we liked that it focuses on climbing and spinning. My kids' favorite was the spinning cone climber.
The park also has a large rope climbing pyramid, an overhead spinning bar, and a blue spinning seat. The swing set has two regular swings and two baby swings. There is also a communication board with symbols in multiple languages.
A paved path leads down from the play area to a basketball court and a skatepark. There is also plenty of open grass for kids to run around, but there aren’t any benches or picnic tables.
This is a great little spot to play. I thought it’d be a quick visit but we ended up staying over an hour, and will be back again soon!
