Parents: The Power of Early Intervention for a Child’s Development

By Mary Honan March 5, 2025

A child’s development from infancy to age 3 is truly remarkable. The child’s brain is rapidly developing, with 90% of a child’s critical brain development happening before age 5!

Partners In Child Development offers Early Intervention Services for infants and children up to three years old who are not meeting age-appropriate developmental milestones or are at risk of not meeting developmental milestones due to a diagnosis or other factors.

As parents and caregivers of infants and toddlers, you have many responsibilities and worries. Wondering if your child is not meeting age-appropriate developmental milestones or is at risk of delays can be another source of concern. We are here to ease your concerns with our Early Intervention Services.

A High-level Overview of Early Intervention Services

Our team of highly skilled specialists initially assess the child. If the child is determined to be eligible for our services, our team works with the family to develop an individualized family service plan. Services take place with the child in their natural environment such as in the child’s home, at childcare, or in community settings. Our services are provided at no direct cost to the family; they are covered through insurance or through the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Public Health.

Examples of Developmental Milestones or Delays

Examples of delays in meeting developmental milestones from infancy up to age three may include difficulty sitting up, talking, crawling, walking, or experiencing challenges with eating, sleeping, playing, and interacting with others.

Our highly skilled professionals have the experience and the expertise to provide therapeutic interventions that are embedded in families’ daily routines and are respectful of each family’s culture and learning style.

3. Therapeutic Services

Our therapeutic interventions are designed to naturally integrate into a family’s daily routines and are respectful of each family’s culture and learning style.
