Dracut’s expansive Veteran’s Memorial Park has been recently updated and consists of everything a great park needs. With a playground, a splash pad, multiple sports fields, a fitness court and a walking path, you could spend hours here!

Whether you pack a lunch or buy food from the concession stand, there are plenty of shaded picnic tables to sit at. There are also multiple benches throughout the park. There is ample parking in the parking lot; however during sports games on the weekends it can get pretty crowded.

I brought my kids here on a sunny Saturday afternoon, and it was very busy. There were several sports games going on, kids playing at the playground and splash pad, families having lunch, people enjoying the weather and taking a walk, and others admiring the Veteran's Memorial statues and flags that stands at the front of the park.

The whole park is clean and well-maintained, and the playground is great for all ages. The playground is fenced off from the parking lot, but is open on the other side leading to the other areas. There’s a section intended for ages 2 to 5 which includes a toddler-friendly play structure and springing rocking horses, which was my son’s favorite.

There is another section geared more toward older kids which has monkey bars, webbing to climb, and slides. There are also a couple of baby swings as well as several swings for older kids.

Next to the playground there is a simple yet fun splash pad that is open from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm. It mainly consists of a rainbow sprinkler but has a couple of other smaller fountains too. Something to be cautious of, and is posted on a sign in the park as well, is that the splash pad rubber flooring is very slippery.

There is also a concession stand here which I believe is only open on the weekends. There are handicap accessible bathrooms at the concession stand and porta potties. I liked that the park is equipped with everything you need for a good park day: fun, food, bathrooms, parking, shade, grassy areas - it has it all!

Something I thought was really cool about Veteran’s Park is that they sometimes hold movie nights in the park during the summer. I love this idea and wish that more parks did events like this.

I was really impressed with this park and highly recommend taking a trip there with your little ones!
