Exciting news! TimberNook Middlesex County, a program of Minute Man Arc for Human Services in Concord, MA, is opening a brand new school year program in Dracut for children ages 3 to 7. TimberNook Middlesex County runs school year programs, seasonal pop-ups at night, on weekends and holidays, birthday parties, field trips and summer camp.
TimberNook programs involve child-led play and seek to provide children with the fine/gross motor, sensory and social-emotional skills they need to develop into fabulous mature adults. These skills are the foundation children need before they can successfully begin and complete academic skills. The great outdoors is the perfect natural environment for children to develop and learn these skills.
At TimberNook, 100% of learning is achieved with outdoor play, in nature. "TimberNook programs offer the ultimate sensory experience for children, challenging the mind, body and the senses through meaningful outdoor play opportunities." Learn more about the TimberNook Experience.
Children of ALL abilities are welcome. Our programs are led by occupational therapists, early childhood educators and outdoor specialists.
The new Dracut location is at Ogonowski Memorial Field at the intersection of Jones Ave and Wheeler Rd. This site consists of 33 acres of farm land preserved in honor of Captain John Ogonowski, American Airlines pilot, who died on 9-11 and whose boyhood home is Dracut, MA. School year programs for the TimberNook Dracut site will begin in September. Registration opens Tuesday, August 13 at 6:00 am.

More about TimberNook:
TimberNook began as an experiment in pediatric occupational therapist Angela Hanscom’s own backyard. She was hoping to make a difference in her local community. Now, her experiment has become an amazing journey that is making a difference for children in communities across the world.
Angela is a pediatric occupational therapist and the founder of TimberNook–an award-winning nature-based program that has gained international popularity. She holds a master’s degree in occupational therapy and an undergraduate degree in kinesiology (the study of movement) with a concentration in health fitness. Angela’s book, Balanced & Barefoot: How Unrestricted Outdoor Play Makes for Strong, Confident, and Capable Children (New Harbinger Press, 2016), discusses the effects of restricted movement and lack of outdoor playtime on overall sensory and motor development in children.
TimberNook experiences are developed based on their therapeutic value and ability to inspire children to think and play in new and creative ways. The benefits extend far beyond the duration of the program—children take away valuable skills that can last a lifetime. Learn more about how outdoor play helps children grow and develop.
