My children and I have visited Ducharme Park countless times over the years, mostly due to its convenient location but also because it is a fun park that is typically not crowded. Located right off Woburn Street in South Lowell, it is super close to I-495 and has plenty of on-street parking.
Before heading to the park, we stopped for a treat at Starbucks to take along with us. It was an extremely hot day, and our trip to the park was made a little sweeter with cake pops and cold fruity drinks.
The only downside of going here on a sweltering day is that there is very minimal shade, therefore causing much of the play equipment to be too hot to really play on and enjoy, so I would recommend going on a cooler day.
The mulched playground is fenced in, with an appealing gazebo and some stone benches at the front of the park. At the back of the park there is a basketball court.
The playground consists of a tire swing, swings for all ages, slides, climbing structures, and a seesaw. All three of my kids spent most of their time here zooming on the zip line and had a blast.
I was a little disappointed to find some litter throughout the playground, and I have noticed this on previous visits as well. It would be a great benefit to the park if more trash receptacles were placed throughout the park to create a cleaner space for the kids. The litter wasn’t a major nuisance, just something to be cautious of if you have young ones that like to pick everything up.
Overall this is a great park that kids of all ages are sure to enjoy!
