7 Things to Do in September With Kids in Greater Lowell

By Tessa D'Ippolito, Publisher August 30, 2022

Oh, September. The kids are back to school, the sun is going down earlier, the nights are cooler ... and fall officially arrives.

But did you know it's also the month to eat a cheeseburger, celebrate comic books, and talk like a pirate?

Here are 7 September holidays that can help you have a ton of fun with your kids in Greater Lowell.

1. Order a pizza
Sept. 5

Yum, yum... get me some! National Cheese Pizza Day is the perfect day to order dinner from your favorite pizza spot in Greater Lowell! I know everyone has their favorite pizza spot in Greater Lowell, but here's my family's favorite place to order pizza: Eliu's Hole in the Wall!!

2. Celebrate grandma and grandpa!
Sept. 11

If they live nearby, take grandma and grandpa out on the town on National Grandparents' Day to their favorite restaurant in Greater Lowell. If that's not possible? Send a card or make that call! This is also a good excuse for the kids to make a craft! Check out our article for more great ideas!

3. Eat a cheeseburger
Sept. 18

If there's anything we love more than pizza ... it's cheeseburgers, especially at Tavern in the Square in Lowell on National Cheeseburger Day!

4. Talk like a pirate
Sept. 19

Aaaaargh! It's talk like a pirate day! Celebrate by dressing the part. You're sure to have a swashbuckling good time! One of our favorite pirate books is "Pirate Pete's Talk Like A Pirate" by Kim Kennedy. There is a great YouTube narration & characterization of the book that is great!

5. Try for a hole in one
Sept. 21

Surprise the kids with a trip to one of the area's great mini golf courses on National Miniature Golf Day! Who can get a hole-in-one? Check out Apex Entertainment in Marlborough for an awesome round of indoor miniature golf the whole family will love.

6. Welcome fall!
Sept. 22

Fall has arrived! Many of our favorite Greater Lowell events take place in fall! Here are a few of the top fall events in Greater Lowell throughout September:

7. Buy a comic book
Sept. 25

Visit Legends Comix and Games in Littleton or Command D in Dracut on National Comic Book Day to find a comic book your kid will love!
