Good Pickin’ Farm in Westford MA has a brand new EEC licensed nature-based preschool program, Acres of Fun, for ages 2.9-5 years. Choose between 1/2 day or full day programs for 2, 3, 4 or 5 days per week.
At Acres of Fun we believe that children are born naturalists with an innate curiosity and eagerness to learn about themselves and the world around them. They explore the world with all of their senses, experiment in the environment, and communicate their discoveries to the people who love and care for them. Children learn best when they are interested and engaged, while accompanied by warm, stable and caring educators and caretakers. We believe children have the right to an education that fosters respect for nature and each other.
For children in grades kindergarten through eighth grade, the School House is a multi-age micro school with an indoor/outdoor classroom meeting all of the state academic requirements. School work is cross-disciplinary and project-based with the children learning from each other in addition to their teachers. Along with academics, day-to-day activities include animal care, art, music, nature and goat hikes, yoga, and more. This is the perfect learning environment for the curious and active child who wants more than a traditional school can offer.
Local homeschooled children can sign up to join our School House students for lessons on Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays. We begin the day with morning chores caring for our animals, and then move on to a lesson in science and then art. After art is lunch and free play. Children are welcome to sign up for the whole time (9am-1pm) or choose just one subject (chores and science or art). Homeschool on the Farm is great for socialization and working with others.
