Acres of Fun: Outdoor Preschool
Good Pickin’ Farm in Westford MA has a EEC licensed nature-based preschool program, Acres of Fun, for ages 2.9-5 years. Choose between 1/2 day or full day programs for 2, 3, 4 or 5 days per week.
At Acres of Fun we believe that children are born naturalists with an innate curiosity and eagerness to learn about themselves and the world around them. They explore the world with all of their senses, experiment in the environment, and communicate their discoveries to the people who love and care for them. Children learn best when they are interested and engaged, while accompanied by warm, stable and caring educators and caretakers. We believe children have the right to an education that fosters respect for nature and each other.
Good Pickin' Farm School
For children in grades kindergarten through eighth grade, the Farm School is a multi-age micro school with an indoor/outdoor classroom meeting all of the state academic requirements. School work is cross-disciplinary and project-based with the children learning from each other in addition to their teachers. Along with academics, day-to-day activities include animal care, art, music, nature and goat hikes, yoga, and more. This is the perfect learning environment for the curious and active child who wants more than a traditional school can offer.
Farm to Forest Homeschool Program
Homeschoolers 5-14 may attend 1-4 days a week, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday Friday. Learning will be primarily outdoors, experiential, hands-on and multidisciplinary. Our curriculum can be one day projects or multiple weeks as children dive deeply into different experiences.
Students will focus on outdoor, nature-based and farm/animal related learning and social experiences. The different age groups will spend most of the time together, however will split up when necessary due to the activity offered. Occasionally, there will be interaction and collaboration with our full-time School House students as part of learning, but these homeschooled groups will have a separate curriculum and schedule. Homeschool students have the opportunity to have lunch and free-play with our full time School House students for more social experience!
