Family fun events are beginning to appear on our Event Calendar! I'm starting to see outdoor events starting to pop up, including concerts, storytimes and even festivals. I'm so excited and happy to see these fun events and share them with you!
Here's a selection of 10 fun things to do with the family in Greater Lowell in June. It's only June 2 as I write this, so more events and activities will surely be added to our calendar as the month progresses. Be sure to check it frequently!
1. The carnival is back! Visit the Fiesta Shows Spring Carnival at Regatta Field in Lowell through June 6.
2. This weekend, June 5-6, is Free Fishing Weekend in Massachusetts. Normally kids under 15 don't need a fishing license anyway but this weekend adults don't either. See our Free Fishing Weekend article for more details and our Fishing Trip article for tips on how to have a successful fishing trip with kids.
3. Lowell has a vibrant arts community, and local artists are sharing their talents at two upcoming outdoor markets in June:
- June 5: Outdoor Art Market at Western Avenue
- June 19: Palmer St. Market
4. Summer music is here! Two Summer Music Series are starting in June, with more local series to come in July.
- June 4: First in a series of Friday evening concerts at Good Pickin' Farm in Westford. Bring a picnic and chairs. Purchase tickets in advance.
- June 4: First in a series of Friday evening concerts at Swanson Meadows in Billerica. Purchase tickets in advance. (Seating is on the deck and food is available for purchase. Note this is not a bring-your-own food/drink event.)
5. Local farms are bursting with fresh produce to bring to farmers' markets. Check out the following markets that start in June:
- Thursdays starting June 17: Tewksbury Community Market
- Mondays starting June 21: Billerica Farmers Market
- Tuesdays starting June 22: Westford Farmers Market
6. Bring a picnic and enjoy a Family Night at SpringDell Farms in Littleton on Thursday June 17.
7. Strawberries are coming! Strawberries ripen in mid to late June. See our Strawberry Picking Guide for local PYO farms. Enjoy strawberry shortcake and lots of vendors at the Strawberry & Arts Festival in Westford on June 19.
8. Outdoor storytimes and kids' events are starting! Check out some local events:
- Dunstable Library storytimes on Friday mornings
- Children's Music on the Lawn on June 13
- Outdoor Puppet Show on June 26
- Summer Singalong on June 30
9. Explore Good Pickin' Farm and participate in their Farm Olympics at their Farm Field Day on June 26
10. So many reasons to celebrate this year at Pepperell's 4th of July Parade and Fireworks on Saturday June 26
