Outdoor Adventures: Parlee Farms in Tyngsboro

This suburban farm offers pick-your-own fruit, animal barns, a farm stand, ice cream and more!

Parlee Farms is a 93-acre Pick Your Own farm that has been actively growing since 1987.  They are open June through October, giving you many opportunities to visit. Whether you are looking for berries in the Summer or apples in the Fall, Parlee Farms has got you covered!

Our most recent visit was on opening day of strawberry picking in June.  Everyone was excited to get back to the farm, and with all the people there, picking only lasted 2 hours!  After arriving, we collected our picking basket and boarded the tractor pulled wagon to the strawberries.

My trio (ages 6, 6 & 2) and I picked the brightest, juiciest strawberries we could find.  And when our basket was full, we jumped on the wagon for a ride back.  The wagon ride alone is a huge hit with my children.

If hand picking the strawberries isn't your thing, don't fret...they have freshly picked strawberries for sale in the farm stand (while they last).  While in the farm stand, my children were immediately drawn to the sweet smell of apple cider donuts made right before their eyes. Yum!!

If sugary donuts weren't enough, you can satisfy your sweet tooth at Mary's Country Kitchen & Bakery. They offer farm made treats related to each picking season, such as warm apple crisp,  fresh fruit slush, ice cream sundaes, hot apple cider, and you guessed it... strawberry shortcake!!  My daughter and I can personally vouch that it's delicious.

After you've filled your belly with all the yummies, don't forget to stop by to see all the friendly animals at Annie's Animal Barn. There are machines located around the barns to purchase feed for the animals, such as goats, bunnies, sheep, and chickens. Handwashing stations are conveniently located next to the animals.

Farmer Mark's Tractors are another fun stop, offering little ones a chance to get behind the wheel of a kid sized tractor. Rides are $2 each and for children 42-55 inches tall.  In the Fall, they set up a Play Maze made up of bales and bales of hay. It's lots of fun for the little ones to run through.

Throughout the seasons, Parlee offers PYO for strawberries, cherries, blueberries, flowers, peaches/nectarines, apples, and pumpkins. Be sure to always check 'Today's Farm News' at www.parleefarms.com the morning before your visit for current information on picking availability and hours.
