September 26, 2018

Nashoba Family Dentists offers total dental health care for your family. Our modern office has been in Littleton for over 30 years. For those thirty years, our top priority has always been the comfort and well being of our patients. Dr. Brendan Curley lives in the community he practices in and spends time outside the office coaching town soccer and football teams for his own children.

Nashoba Family Dentists offers many services to patients, and one of those important specialties is pediatric dentistry. Dr. Michael Richler is our specialist in children's dentistry. He was born in Montreal, but grew up in Newton, MA. He received his Bachelor’s degree from University of Vermont, and continued on to Boston University for his Master’s in Medical Science. Dr. Mike is dedicated to the oral health of children from infancy to young adulthood. His goal is to make every child’s dental experience a happy one while providing the most comprehensive care for his patient. Dr. Mike enjoys skiing, hockey, and traveling.

What is Pediatric Dentistry?

Pediatric dentistry is the dental specialty that focuses on the oral health of young people. We are concerned about your child’s total health care. Good oral health is an important part of your total health. Establishing us as your child’s provider gives us the opportunity to implement preventive dental health habits that keep a child free from dental/oral disease. We focus on prevention and early detection and treatment of dental diseases while keeping current on the latest advances in dentistry for children.

What is the importance of Primary (Baby) Teeth?

Primary or baby teeth are very important. These teeth are kept in place until they are naturally lost as your child gets older. These teeth serve a number of functions while your child develops. Baby teeth help maintain good nutrition by permitting your child to chew properly. As your child grows up, teeth are involved in speech development. Finally, they help hold space for the developing adult teeth as they erupt in the mouth of the child.

What is the importance of preventing tooth decay at early age?

The four things necessary for cavities to form are bacteria, sugars or carbohydrates, time or exposure in the mouth, and, of course, teeth. Our office can help with ideas to help make teeth strong and keep bacteria from organizing into harmful colonies. We can also suggest healthy eating habits and what role that plays in your family’s oral health. We want you to remember that dental decay is an infection of the tooth. Visiting our office early can help avoid unnecessary treatment.

What does our office and Dr. Mike suggest for infants and children?

Our office believes in getting an early start in regular dental care. We want to share with you the latest available methods for keeping your child and family healthy. That first dental visit should occur shortly after the first tooth erupts and no later than the child’s first birthday. Beginning tooth and mouth examinations early may lead to detection of early stages of tooth decay that can be easily treated.

What does the first pediatric dental visit include at Nashoba Family Dentists?

The first visit is important to children and parents. Our office wants to provide a program of preventive home care including brushing, flossing, diet and the importance of fluoride. We also want to provide information about early childhood decay or tooth damage from nursing habits, sippy cups, finger sucking, and pacifier habits. Your family will need to know about preventing injuries to the mouth and teeth as your children become more active. Finally, information on growth and development as your child ages. This will be performed in a clean, modern environment. Our office can accommodate multiple family members at the same time, allowing everyone to have a complete appointment in an efficient manner.

Dr. Mike, Dr. Curley, and our team of providers really look forward to meeting your family!  Our office focuses on total family oral health while enhancing the patient’s overall comfort.
