Featured Camp: Tsongas Industrial History Center Summer Programs

March 7, 2018

When School Is OUT, TIHC Summer Camps Are IN!

Dreamers, doers, movers, and makers – come “mill around” with us as you explore history, science, and nature. The Tsongas Industrial History Center is an education partnership between the University of Massachusetts Lowell College of Education and Lowell National Historical Park. The Center facilitates hands-on learning of industrial history and related science and engineering content through on- and off-site educational programs. The mission of the Tsongas Industrial History Center is to inspire connections with and understandings about America’s industrial past, present, and future through experiential learning using Lowell’s unique resources.

Boott Camp
July 9-13
Ages 8-12
Get your Boott on! TIHC’s most popular summer camp is back and better than ever! Play, create, and discover – on a trolley, by boat, and on foot. You’ll weave by hand, create amazing works of art, become a hydropower engineer (What!? You’ll have to come and find out!). You’ve never had so much fun with history.

National Park Adventures
July 16-20
Ages 9-13
Celebrate the 40th anniversary of Lowell National Historical Park with a week of discoveries that will inspire the next generation of national parks stewards! Explore natural and historic areas to learn about the world around you. Journey to nearby national parks for fun and exciting adventures.

Wonders of Water
July 23-27
Ages 8-12
Water, water everywhere! Have fun exploring the importance of this valuable resource. Go boating on Lowell’s awesome waterways, perform wacky experiments, build a working canal system, and investigate the creatures that call water home. Uncover the amazing aquatic connections between science and history in Lowell. Get wet, get wild, get WOW!

Eco-Explorers
July 30-August 3
Ages 10-14
Lowell is a city full of natural wonders. Spend a week with other explorers as we investigate pockets of wilderness – and wild animals – in Lowell and beyond. Go canoeing on a lazy river, take an urban nature hike, and have fun learning about the world outside our windows.

Boott Camp: Discovery
August 6-10
Ages 10-14
Explore, investigate, discover! Have fun with science through crafts, games, field trips, and experiments that go a step beyond the ordinary. Challenge yourself to try new activities (and maybe get messy) and uncover new twists on Lowell’s stories.
