Ringling Bros Circus is an Amazingly Good Time for Families!

By Barbara Evangelista, Publisher October 8, 2014
Last weekend, my family had the great fortune to experience the Ringling Bros and Barnum & Bailey Circus in Manchester NH.  I haven't visited the Ringling Bros circus since I was a child but I remembered there were lots of clowns and some elephants and trapeze artists but wasn't sure what else to expect. My kids are at that age where they get bored easily (actually, are kids ever not at that age??) so they can be tough critics. I needn't have worried -- here's what my family looked like during the whole show:

The Ringling Bros. circus was FABULOUS. No other way to describe it, and the kids absolutely loved it. See our pictures below for some of the amazing stunts and performances that we enjoyed.  There were aerialists and trapeze artists performing amazing stunts.  Yes, he's holding her with his TEETH:

There were tightrope walkers that made us all watch with our eyes wide, our mouths open, and our hands clenched:

There were 12 gorgeous, sleek tigers with impressive teeth and huge claws who performed every trick flawlessly:

There were 6 elephants, from a baby to his happy mama:

We saw a whole team of basketball players on unicycles who made us laugh and cheer:

There were amazing feats of strength and beauty:

There was a troupe of clowns who performed their own very funny "Who's Got Talent" show:

They SHOT A WOMAN OUT OF A CANNON.  (They really did!)

Four circus artists walked on, in and over what was essentially a HUGE, spinning hamster wheel:

All of this, plus a fabulous Ringleader who sang and entertained, stilt-walkers, gymnasts, trampoline artists, aerialists, ponies, music performed by a live orchestra, performing poodles, and the most gorgeous costumes. This was the third show on that particular day but the performers were clearly having a blast -- huge smiles, tons of energy, incredible enthusiasm, and amazing talent.  We were very fortunate to have seats that were very close, and the performers were literally 10 feet away. We could see the sheer joy and happiness on their faces, and the performer who got shot out of the cannon even winked and smiled at us.  The Ringling Bros. circus was truly a delight from beginning to end, and my kids haven't stopped talking about it since!

The Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus "Built to Amaze" will be at the DCU Center in Worcester this Thursday 10/9 through Monday 10/13 and at the TD Garden in Boston from Wednesday 10/15 to Sunday 10/19.  Click on the cities to be taken to the Ticketmaster information.

Have a blast at the circus!!
