Local July 4th Festivities

Acton
The town of Acton puts on a special July 4th celebration at NARA Park, Ledge Rock Way off Rt. 27 in North Acton.  On Thursday, July 4, from 3-6:30 PM, there will be a family fun time with many different activities.  At 6:30, Beatlejuice, a Beatles tribute band, will perform.  Fireworks take place at dusk (around 9 to 9:30 PM).  There is limited parking on site, but there are shuttle busses or a (long) walking path from Nagog Park along Rt. 119.

Ayer
Ayer has a day-long celebration on Saturday, 7/6, starting with a parade downtown at 3:00, activities, vendors and food from 4-9 PM, and fireworks at dusk (approximately 9-9:30 PM) at Pirone Park, 17 School St, Ayer.  The rain date for fireworks is Sunday 7/7.

Chelmsford
While there won't be fireworks, Chelmsford hosts an excellent Country Fair with a band concert on Wednesday July 3rd from 5-10 PM and Thursday July 4th from 8 AM-3 PM.  Look for the Lowell Macaroni Kid booth and stop by to make a free red, white & blue beaded bracelet and enter our Lowell Spinners giveaway!  The renowned Chelmsford July 4th Parade kicks off at 10 AM on July 4th, proceeding from McCarthy Middle School near the Drum Hill rotary on Rt. 4, down North Rd (Rt. 4) and through the center of town, ending at the former Stop & Shop parking lot on Boston Rd.  Residents begin putting their chairs out along the route as much as a week beforehand (although the town has officially asked residents to wait until July 2nd this year).

Groton
The Parks Commission in Groton will launch fireworks on July 8th at 9:00 PM.  There will be food available for purchase starting at 6:00 PM.  Bring a blanket and find a spot at the Town Field behind the library at 99 Main St.  The rain date is July 9th.

Littleton
The Annual 4th of July Town Picnic will take place on Thursday, July 4th at Fay Park starting at 11:30 AM.  There will be a music concert featuring the Fernando Holz Band, children's games and activities, food for purchase, and a visit from Uncle Sam.

Lowell
The fireworks in Lowell have been moved to LeLacheur Park, 450 Aiken St, this year.  On Friday, July 5th, the doors at LeLacheur Park open at 6:30 PM with free admission and seating for over 5000.  There will be live music, face painting, balloon artists, and magicians.  Food will be available for purchase.  Fireworks begin at 9 PM.  The rain date for fireworks is Saturday, 7/6.

Pepperell
The annual July 4th festivities in Pepperell take place on Saturday, July 6th, starting with a parade at 12:30 PM.  There will be games, activities, a music concert, and the Rockin Rib Fest at the Town Fields behind the Community Center all afternoon, and fireworks at dusk.

Tewksbury
Tewksbury has pulled together a great celebration for July 4th and 4th at the Livingston Street Recreation Area.  There will be a variety of family activities on Thursday, July 4th, including field games from 10 AM-12 PM, decorated doll carriage and bicycle contests, pie eating and watermelon eating contests, and more.  On Friday, July 5th, there will be live entertainment from 7-9:30 PM and fireworks at 9:30, weather permitting.

Wilmington
They know how to celebrate the 4th of July in Wilmington!  There will be several days of festivities, starting Tuesday July 2nd.  Activities include pancake breakfasts, concerts, BBQ, pasta and chicken dinners, pie eating contests, a family fun day on July 4th, and TWO fireworks displays (on 7/4 and 7/6).  See the complete schedule at www.funonthefourth.com.  Please note that there will be NO Fiesta Shows carnival in Wilmington this year.
