My 8-year-old son Sam recently had the party of his dreams at Laser Craze in North Andover.  It was so much fun, and the staff there was so attentive!  We booked the Super Combo Party, which included time in the Adrenaline Zone (inflatable slides and obstacle courses) for all the kids, then four rounds of laser tag, then pizza and cake, then some time in the arcade with tokens.  It was a full 2.5 hours of non-stop fun!

Laser Craze is located in a huge industrial building about 10 minutes off of Route 495 in North Andover.  It can be just a bit confusing to find, since the entrance is around the side of the building and Laser Craze itself is inside on the 2nd floor.  Just look for all the cars and follow the signs, and you’ll find it with no problems.

The party staff welcomed us and checked us in immediately when we arrived, and assigned Pat to us as our party manager.  He brought us to a table that would be ours for the whole party, took our cake and party favors to a holding area, and got us settled in. The kids went to play while we greeted the guests as they arrived.  All the kids had 15 or 20 minutes to run, jump and slide in the three huge inflatable obstacle courses and slides in the Adrenaline Zone before heading off to laser tag.

The laser tag part of the party lasted about 40 minutes. The kids were suited up with special vests and laser tag guns and instructed on how the games work. There are two teams -- Red and Blue -- and their goal is to get to and shoot the target at the other team's base, and also use their laser guns to "shoot" opposing team members.  Each team has to protect their base.  The playing area is huge, with ramps, a second story, obstacles, and hiding places... oh, and they also turn off the lights, leaving only blue lights on during the games!  Every players has lights on his vest and there are soft blue and red lights all over the place, on the obstacles, on the ramp floors, etc.  It's quite easy to navigate and the blue lights give it that extra touch of difficulty and fun.

Each laser tag game lasts for five minutes, and our guests did four games with a short break to regroup between each one.  Five minutes doesn't sound like very long for a laser tag game, but everyone agreed it was quite a workout and definitely the right amount of time.  They were running around and up and down ramps for the whole time, and everyone was worn out after the games were over.

After the laser tag, we all returned to our table and had pizza, unlimited fountain drinks, and our cake.  Pat was very helpful preparing the cake, making sure everyone had their preferred drink, and handing out pizza.  As soon as everyone had finished their cake, he handed out cups of arcade tokens, and the kids got to explore and play in the arcade.  There are about 40 or so different arcade games, and most are fine for kids under 10.  The arcade games reward players with tickets, and there’s a prize center with a wide range of prizes to choose from.

Aside from all the fun options, a nice feature about Laser Craze parties is that guests can stay as long as they like and play in the arcade and Adrenaline Zone after the party is over. Some of our guests were having such a great time that they continued playing for quite a while after our party was over.  They all gave the party a definite thumbs-up.  Since our party was mostly 7 and 8 year olds, including a couple of shy girls, I was a bit concerned that they would be intimidated by the laser tag.  I wandered around the laser tag arena while the kids were playing and was really happy to see that they all were totally into the laser tag games and having a great time.

I would definitely recommend Laser Craze for kids’ birthday parties, especially for age 7 all the way up to teens.  Families can also drop in anytime to play laser tag, jump in the Adrenaline Zone, or enjoy the arcade, and Laser Craze does group and corporate events and fundraisers.
