Holiday Gift Review -- Steve Spangler Science Club

By Barbara Evangelista, Publisher November 19, 2014
OK, Steve Spangler is just COOL.  Kids love him -- he makes things explode, fizz, smoke, change colors, and it's OK with their parents because it's educational!  Steve is a teacher, author, TV personality, and toy designer who loves to get kids excited about science, discovery and learning.  Remember the Mentos & soda experiment video?  Yep, that was Steve. If your kids love science, check out the Steve Spangler Science website for all kinds of experiments, kits and toys.

Steve has just launched the Spangler Science Club, a monthly science enrichment program.  A science adventure kit, geared for kids age 5-10, will be delivered to your door each month. Each kit includes detailed instructions, science lessons, and adult helper information.

The kit I received included test tubes, a test tube rack, cups, color and fizz pills, tubing, pipettes, and more, all carefully packed with instructions and a Top Secret information document. How exciting it would be for any science-loving kid to get a kit like this in the mail every month!

The kit was a huge hit at the Holiday Toy Time Party.  The kids were so excited to try out all the equipment, see the reactions, and be hands-on scientists.  All of the kit equipment is extremely sturdy and can be used for more experiments later.  As the kids worked through each experiment, they learned the science behind the experiment, wrote down their hypotheseses, and answered interesting open-ended questions after every step.

A Spangler Science Club monthly membership would be an amazing gift for any science-loving child, one of those gifts that they remember for years. (I still remember the craft kit-a-month club that my parents got me when I was a kid!)  It's so exciting for kids to get a package in the mail, and then, imagine the thrill of opening the box and finding all kinds of interactive fun and science!  The cost ranges from $25 to $30 a month, depending on how long a membership you purchase, and shipping is free.
