Chocolate-Dipped Treats are Easy with CandiQuik!

I enjoy baking and experimenting in the kitchen, so I was really pleased to receive the new CandiQuik quick-melt chocolate and vanilla as part of my Back to School Party products.  My family loves chocolate-dipped fruit, and I often make a white chocolate-peppermint bark at Christmas, so I was intrigued to see if CandiQuik was easier to work with than those pesky little disks that you have to melt and stir, melt and stir, melt and stir.

I checked all of the recipes on the CandiQuik website (YUM!) and decided to make S'More Pops -- a marshmallow on a stick, dipped in chocolate and rolled in graham cracker crumbs -- and Oreo Truffles -- an amazing little truffle made with crushed oreo cookies and cream cheese in the middle, and white chocolate coating.  Both were very quick and very easy.

The CandiQuik chocolate comes in its own waxed cardboard tray in the package.  All I needed to do was open the package, pop the tray in the microwave, heat on high for 1 minute, and then stir until the larger lumps melted.  WAY faster than those disks, very neat in its own tray, very smooth and delicious.  For the S'More Pops, it took about 20 minutes to make a tray full of sweets -- melt the CandiQuik, put a stick in each marshmallow, dip in the melted CandiQuik chocolate, roll in a bowl of graham cracker crumbs, and set on wax paper to harden.  The marshmallows had set nicely within 20 minutes.  I made a separate plate of pops for the kids and their friends, and they inhaled them with thumbs up.

The Oreo truffles are rated as being a bit harder to make and they did have a few more steps, but I was surprised at how simple yet impressive they were.  A whole package of Oreos goes into the food processor until you have a bowl of crumbs.  Mix them with a package of softened cream cheese -- you have to use your hands - then roll the mix into little balls and put on wax paper.  Put the whole thing in the fridge for 15 minutes, melt the CandiQuik vanilla coating (just one minute and stir) and then roll each ball in the coating and set back on the wax paper to set (I used toothpicks to maneuver the Oreo balls in the white chocolate).  I kept aside some of the crumbs to sprinkle on the top while the coating was still wet.  They came out so nice, and everyone loved them at the Back to School party!

CandiQuik is especially convenient because if you don't use all of the chocolate, just let it harden its tray, put it right back in the package and seal it into a plastic bag, and you can keep it in a cool, dry place like a pantry until the next time you need it.  It's scored into blocks, so you can easily break off a piece and melt it in a separate bowl if you just need a little.
