By Barbara Evangelista, Publisher July 29, 2015
Depending on the community where you live, you may not have heard about the National Night Out initiative. Started by the National Association of Town Watch, a crime prevention organization, National Night Out is focused on celebrating and promoting police-community partnerships. Neighborhoods and towns hold block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts, and other community events to bring neighbors and law enforcement together and build a true sense of community and partnership. Many events include safety demonstrations, emergency vehicle visits, and other activities that children love. National Nights Out are held on the first Tuesday of August.
